Description and structure are the elements that make for magical essays. This hands-on course focuses on craft, giving students a chance to build publishable pieces while sharpening key skills. Objectives include teaching students the core elements of powerful (and saleable) essays that connect with a reader’s heart. We’ll spend time deepening the skills that help you craft vivid stories that connect with readers and editors. And you’ll gain tools to help with structuring the essay you want to write. Finally, there will be editing tools to help you figure out the next steps from where you are and keep going from start to finish. Lessons immerse students in core skills that will stay with them well beyond the last class. The teaching artist is willing to provide feedback on a total of ten pages of a student’s writing during the course. Small copy fee. No classes Thanksgiving week!
